Privacy

Short, because we collect almost nothing.

The site. Static pages, no tracking pixels. Our hosting keeps standard server logs (IP address, page requested, time) to keep the site running, and deletes them after 30 days.

Cookies. We don't set any.

Analytics. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies and doesn't follow you round other sites. We see totals only: which pages were read, which site sent people here, rough country and type of device. Cloudflare sees your IP address when the counter loads, and says it doesn't use it to track you.

Videos. YouTube embeds load only when you press play, through YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain. Until then, nothing is sent to YouTube beyond the thumbnail image request. Once you press play, YouTube's own privacy policy applies.

Maps. The drawn route on each ride-out page is part of the page and sends nothing anywhere. If you open the interactive map, map tiles are fetched from OpenFreeMap, which will see your IP address. OpenFreeMap has no accounts, no API keys and sets no cookies.

The Your say form. What you type is emailed to us through Amazon's servers in London and kept nowhere else on the way. It lands in our inbox (Google Workspace), so we can read it, reply if you gave us an email, and, only if you ticked the publish box, turn it into a post in your words. Before it sends, Cloudflare Turnstile checks you're a person and not a bot; Cloudflare sees your IP address and browser details for that check, and says it doesn't use them for advertising. We never publish an email address. We delete messages 60 days after we've dealt with them; anything published stays as long as its post. Ask us to delete yours sooner and we will.

Children. The site isn't aimed at under-16s and we don't knowingly keep anything from them.
